Why do people learn foreign languages? What are the most effective language learning strategies? Why are associations important in language acquisition? These are just a few of the questions put to participants of workshops which started in November.
The purpose of the workshops is to prepare a group of high school students to their final exam in English. During each 150 minutes workshop students have been practicing their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. They have already learned about different accents in English and why pronunciation and intonation do matter. During reading and writing exercises students have been listening to various pieces of music so as to help them relax their mind which enables them to concentrate better.
Since the workshops are based on the idea of ‘flipped classroom’ model, students first receive stimulating materials- mostly videos, via special group on Facebook, and then they meet to discuss it together. To present their opinions students have also made individual mind maps, presentations and short videos on various topics.
